Stanislaw Lem Wiki

Regis III is a planet in Stanislaw Lem 's Novel The Invincible .

Location[]

Is located in the system of a red dwarf star.

Its surface is almost completey eroded due to centuries of hardly any biological activity (which is caused by the metallic swarm beings that inhabit it.)

The planet features vast oceans, populated with bone fishes, that have developed a keen magnetic sense.

The atmosphere is an odd mixture of helium and oxygen. The helium is a special bonded one, so that though the mixture with the oxygen would be explosive under Earth conditions, the helium is to be thought of as an isotope of normal helium, and not ignitable.

Prominent landmarks.

It features a remainder of highly developed automata in some cluster in a canyon.

It features the remains of corroded automata with stalactites and stalagmites growing over and water flowing over them, almost turning into yet another soil layer.

It features an inactive and sealed earthen rocket, the Condor .

It also features a valley with a ravine of molten glass, where radioactive isotopes can be found on this otherwise hardly radioactive planet.

This is the surface of Regis III in the background. In the foreground it shows the metal bushes and metal clouds.
